Insulating Glass Units
Windows are one of the major causes of heat loss in a home. Typical single glazing offers little resistance to heat loss through the glass. Insulating Glass Units consists of two or more panels of glass that are bonded to a perimeter spacer, either metal or thermoplastic spacer. It is the airspace that reduces thermal transmission, This also has the added benefit of reducing or eliminating condensation, mould and mildew. Various types of glass can be incorporated into insulated glass unit and most single glazed timber and aluminium frames can be retro fitted to take new insulating double glazed units.
